Why did we make Operation Spitfire?

Text reads "Operation Spitfire". A damaged Spitfire lands whilst 3 Spitfires take off and away to fight.

Southampton has a great history. A significant chapter in that history is its role in World War 2. Southampton was a vital port for the maritime forces and famously became a second home for the Spitfire. A plane that captured the nation’s soul.

The Spitfire was produced in the Southampton Supermarine works. Dedicated men and women worked tirelessly to make plane after plane. That hard work paid off during the battle of Britain. Despite being outnumbered, and outgunned; the quality of the machine was so great that good won out against evil.

From Sneaky Dog HQ we can practically see the site where the Supermarine factory produced Spitfires. It inspired us to create something as a tribute to the factory workers. So we can appreciate their hard work.

The story of Operation Spitfire is as follows: A German spy infiltrates the Supermarine works. He identifies its weaknesses. Analysis of the Spitfire and relays it back to his fatherland. The spy will call a bombing raid on the factory now he knows the secrets within.

Just in time, British intelligence identifies his hideout. Now it is up to you to find his communication array. It will not be easy; codes and obstacles block your efforts.

We wanted the story to reflect how important the factory and its workers were.

Inside the room(s) of Operation Spitfire.

Text reads "Operation Spitfire". Collage of six images. An old radio, a lock and a photograph of an engine, a vinyl player, vintage breakfast boxes, a locked box and an ammo box.

We have to keep some things top secret. What I can tell you is our authenticity. Most props are truly from the 1930s. Our soundtrack is authentically 30’s too. The end effect of this is that you feel like you have walked into a 30’s house. It is very immersive.

There are so many amazing props I cannot show you for fear of spoiling the one time experience. There is more than meets the eye to this house. It hides secrets you need to uncover.

Conclusion.

Operation Spitfire is a tribute to local heroes. Lest we forget that they too made sacrifices for this nation. We tried to be authentic whilst adding drama and fun to the escape room. It was a challenge for us to make! And now is a challenge for you to overcome.

Our Latest Review!

Absolutely fabulous experience! The attention to detail was second to none and the puzzles were well considered and varied. Enough room for a group of six to work comfortably and more rooms to explore than any previous escape rooms completed.

The host was brilliant and gave enough subtle hints to keep us moving without giving away too much. Definitely the best in Southampton and possibly the south of England. When you have a 90 minute limit it makes such a pleasant change to actually need the whole time. Was absolutely worth every penny!
